Are you wondering why we are standing up on surfboards holding paddles in flat water?
Paddleboard SWFL (Southwest Florida) is all about getting people on the water, ridiculously close to wildlife, without negatively impacting the environment.
But, is it for you?
Yes, we guarantee that you will be successful as long as you are able to sit, kneel, or stand and hold a paddle. The boards are extremely stable, and paddling requires minimal effort.
We are willing to bet that you will enjoy paddleboarding regardless of your physical fitness and coordination level. No, really, we’re serious. (Ask my mom, a woman who sprains an ankle standing still).
Why paddleboard instead of jet skiing, parasailing, canoeing, kayaking, windsurfing, or segwaying?
Paddleboarding provides an amazing view of everything that you cannot normally see under the surface of the water and an equally stellar view of wildlife above the water. Gliding 5” above the water, you will be able to see to the bottom. Every time we get on a board, within five minutes we see any combination of the following: sponges, seagrass beds, dolphin, manatee, sea stars, schools of fish--pompano, jack, sheepshead, baitfish, flying mullet-- white pelicans, osprey, roseate spoonbills, bald eagles…we could go on.
We have a way for you to “walk” on water where the wild things are. Kayaking and canoeing are fun, but even if your bum doesn’t go numb and your back doesn’t ache, you won’t be able to see as much sitting down. Jet skiing and outboard motors can scare everything away, maim seagrass beds, scar manatees, pollute waters, and generally threaten our fragile environment. Not to get too preachy, but we do hope to educate as well as engage our guests.
Out of all of the outdoor adventures we have experienced, nothing has provided us with such an awe-inspiring, instantaneous vista of the area. Seriously, we’re talking jaw-dropping views. Think glass-bottom boat without the seasickness and hoards of people surrounding you.
Not convinced yet?
You will tone your abs, burn lots of calories, and be able to tell all of your friends that you enjoy the sport promoted by pro surfer Laird Hamilton and enjoyed by celebrities like Matthew McConaughey and Kate Hudson.
See you soon.
